Sickness, Recovery and Study – Woe!

Wow… It’s that time of the year again… where I have till Wednesday morning to finish up everything. Sigh.

Have a wedding dinner to attend tonight.

Oh, and my English officially SUCK. Got a 54/60 result in the staff meeting. Wow. Didn’t see that coming. Actually, I did. I remember getting a not so impressive 1119 result in secondary school. And yea, CPU’s Grade 13 English confirmed how bad it was (I did not get beyond 80%, thus no extra certificate for that extra subject).

Hmmmm….

Which is why I try to write using simple English structures all the time.

Try being the operative word here.

Oh… Gunz is a good online game which I frequent whenever I need a break! It’s free. Check it out.

I had a hectic schedule, as usual, this week. Even though I am on relatively low working hours. Hmmmm… Anyway, few things that caught my eye this week:

Programming The Nintendo Game Boy Advance

’nuff said. A very good book to start programming on the GBA console. It’s free!

Still Featured!
Yep… my report on the Asian Game Developers Summit 2005 is still featured on GameDev.net. I hope to continue writing at least one more article after my CPA exam.

ICE GIANTS???? FOR REAL???
This had lots of net surfers bewildered. Arkady Simkin claims to have found a real ‘dead carcass’ of a “Taurus Major” in Siberia, during his time with an oil company (Polarneft). Not only does he have the video to show for it, he is also trying to get more help to ‘rediscover’ the carcass, as his former employer has closed the case over it. Again, this is his claims. Head over to his website… here… and download the movie and the interesting MP3 interview from a local radio station.

Stephen King in Comics!
Along with Jae Lee…

Oooooooo…. favourite artist. I am not a Stephen King fan… but hey, since it is in comic book format, I might just try it out.

Malaysia Corruption and Torment on a 22 year old guy
Over at Malaysiakini, read this story about a raid at a club in Sri Hartamas. I am not surprised at all with the way our police force works. The corruption and the ugly side of how things are done, far outweighs their attempts to be ‘helpful’. All of us are able to attest to this I am sure. Anyway, read it here.

Anwar Again on NEP
Clearly a political move, but nevertheless it is something that all non-bumi’s would support, if they knew the real situation and scope of the ‘damage’ done. For those who are clueless on what NEP stands for…

Former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim has called for the immediate suspension of the New Economic Policy and an end to 35 years of preferences for Malay Malaysians.

For saying this, I have been accused of being anti-Malay, he lamented. But no deserving Malay will be denied of government assistance. In fact, more funds could be expended in this area.

However, the Indians in the estates, poor Chinese and the bumiputeras in Sabah and Sarawak equally deserve assistance.

Patents the Death of Local Game Developers?
That is the latest thing going around in Malaysia Game Developers Community here.

One of the trojan horse policy is TRIPS, trade related intellectual
properties which mandates SOFTWARE PATENTS to be recognized and enforced legally.

Malaysia must recognize software patents by 2008, and it WILL be slipped in through the FTA.

Soon, any companies with any software patents can sue Malaysian software and also local game developers for violating their software patents. Extortion of idea is imminent.

The e-mail claims that this is innevitable. I beg to differ. I read a bit more on the FTA, and seriously find this quite baseless unless a formal signature has been given to allow for TRIPs to be included. Just recently, the EU (European Union) threw the whole thing away. :)

Pro-Test by Skinny Puppy

Best Breakdancing Video I Have Ever Seen… It’s nearly 30MB… but worth the download. Two groups have a face off on the pavement. One a gothic group, the other street players. Way cool.

Get it here.

Ooooookay. That’s it for now. Will blog more after my exam.

Sighhhhhhh!

P.S. A major revamp is in the pipeline for this site. Really really massive one.
