Sometimes, you come across something interesting:

While male-driven comic-book movies have a number of successful models to draw from – Richard Donner’s Superman, Tim Burton’s Batman, Bryan Singer’s X-Men the heroines have, well, none. A live-action Wonder Woman has been languishing in development hell for years, and who even remembers 1984’s Helen Slater-fronted Supergirl? ”America is not ready for a female superhero,” says Catwoman producer Denise Di Novi. ”Men [don't] want to see it especially teenage boys and it seems like women don’t want to, either.”

Got that from the Beat

worth noting…

and sometimes, I come across something that really disturbs me:

Melbournians were puzzled this week by the appearance of giant banners depicting men dressed as Wonder Woman. The banners adorn Melbourne Town Hall to promote the annual Midsumma gay and lesbian festival.

Deputy mayor Gary Singer, who has said he’d like Melbourne to become a gay capital, said the images were not an attempt to win the tag.

“For all festivals we have banners hanging on the Town Hall — this is no different. It’s all part of the rich and varied life of Melbourne,” he said.

This is also from the Beat
