Comics…… I READ TONS of them!
Dont believe me… check out the post man!!!!
Yes yes yes…. I am guilty of not studying today and have been indulging in one of my ‘vices’. Yes, I have been downloading comics by the Megabytes!!!! hahhahahaha…. it was worth coming back home to!!!!
A short list of the comics read for the 1.5 weeks are as follows:
1) The entire run of Grant Morrison’s New X-men (issues # 114 – # 148)
Yes… I am a bit crazy to have downloaded them all… except for those that I have already bought in comic form. It has been quite good actually… although I think Morrison is a bit loony and dull at moments.
2) Cerebus #1-25
I enjoyed the first dozen books!!!! I read every single word of them… but I noticed that Dave Sim tends to be long winded after the first dozen…. he gets too wordy and jokes are not as obvious anymore. Sigh…. ah well….
3) Sandman: The Endless Dream (?) Latest hardcover by Neil Gaiman
Had 7 tales of the endless beings…. Dream’s family. It is really really weird and a bit scary… just a bit. But coming from Gaiman, what do you expect right?
4) 1602 # 2 – 3
Another one from Gaiman. Art by Andy Kubert. Very good story. Imagine Marvel superheroes in 1602…. Arthurian times….. soooo cool. At least for me, although the story starts of a tad bit slow.
5) Nyx #1
Joe Quesada’s comic about a teenage mutant with a ‘typical’ American family values and all. Art is gorgeous… go to http://www.comicon.com/pulse for a preview of it.
6) Y: The Last Man #13
Very good…. wanted to download # 14, but just felt lazy….. Yorick is kidnapped in the end. By Israeli women militants no less. Cliffhanger
7) Alias # 27
My my…. I have never ‘felt’ the paranoia and suspense of a comic character so ‘real’ before, until I read this. It is about a private detective, who was an ex-superhero, facing up to her worst enemy who has power to control people’s will and desire. Tragic tale and full of scary moments, especially in the last two pages…. urghhhhh…. MUST READ!!!!

Empire #1 and 3
Mark Waid’s story of the villian having conquered the world and what happens after that. Very interesting indeed… and violent too.
9) Fantastic Four # 504
Reed Richard leads a preemptive strike on Dr Dooms castle and teritory along with the family, after sending Doom to hell. Reed has his face scared permanently from the previous engagment with Doom. Serious stuff.
10) Batgirl: Year One # 9
A nice, sweet conclusion to a very interesting tale of Barbara Gordon’s first stint as Batgirl… and how she had to ‘fight’ Batman and Robin for the title and for her place in Gotham’s vigilante roll call.
11) The Amazing Spider-man #55 v.2
Sigh….. quite boring actually… never was a Dr Strange Fan… although Spidey’s jokes are funny as usual. It is just too mystic… and not really comprehensible at times. (Hey, it is comics… but there is so much slack you can give the writer).
That’s it!
And to top that off, I also re-read some of my old collection of fav comics…. especially ‘Kingdom Come’ and my X-men stuff too…. hahahahahah… I AM CRAZY!!!!!
Dun blame me… blame CPA!!!!
